Utilities Down as Long-Term Treasury Yields Jump — Utilities Roundup

Shares of power producers fell sharply as Treasury yields rose in the wake of a poorly subscribed auction.

The yield on the 30-year Treasury bond had one its biggest gains of the year after buyers failed to show up for an auction.

National Grid said its fiscal first-half pretax profit fell, warning that new U.K. legislation to weigh on underlying earnings per share.

French utility concern Veolia Environnement rose after it reitearated financial growth targets for the year.
